Hi my name is Emma and...

...I have given up trying to work in a pretty, ordered space...I will never be the tidy girl of my dreams, the one who has everything in the right place...
I like messy...messy works for this Vintage Magpie.

About a foot of clear workspace is all a girl needs!!!
Don't judge me ;)

At Last...

It has taken a while... But today is the day that everything is done; complete; finished...YAY

Our flat looks like home... quite a few changes have happened, dare I mention the fact that we now have the big bedroom and a bed that I can get out of without climbing over the Wonderful Dutchman?

I think I will let the photos do the talking! I hope you like. xxx

Our new bed... huge and gorgeous, thanks to a very generous person.

Halloween night...spooky candles light and some wonderful white pumpkins found at the farmers market

My new Nest!! Hooray!!

All my super stunning brides

Loving the grey and black together

My drawers get some Scottie love

I found this over at 52 FLEA blog and loved it ... this is my Bliss...My aim for our life together

To live content with small means.... To seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion.... To be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich.... To study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly.... To listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart.... To bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never.... In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common...............this is to be my symphony.

Another tranformation...

...Well of the home decor kind!
Before

After~ TA DA!!!

It was given to me by a lovely lady, purely because I wouldn't stop asking her if I could buy it from her!! She came up to me the other day, just after I had decided to stop hassling her, and told me if I could get it out I could have it!!! Exciting!!

I think it looks fab after it's make~over... it's in our hallway waiting for my new workroom to become free.

In case you want to know the paint is Homebase Sanctuary soft feather in matt. It took just one of their tester pots at £1.79...a bargain all round!

Talking of workrooms, I packed up the nest yesterday...I was a little sad about it...but after having a lie in and painting my chest today...I'm happy again!

Happy Weekend my lovelies xxx

I need some advice

As I have told you I have been seeing some changes lately.

Life is moving on, sometimes quicker than I thought possible.

My darling sister is moving out. She is able, in the current market, to buy herself a lovely little flat by the sea...I am slightly green around the edges, but more happy for her than green!

This means that I have a lovely, light and bright room which has Vintage Magpie written all over it. This is where the change comes in. Due to this The Nest in Lewes is having to be packed up and yet again moved back into my flat, which if you remember I, only 6 months ago, moved out of said flat!! Who says life should be easy....or as my Ma says ....it would be boring if it was easy!

So my days of making pretty window displays are again put on hold!

But to be honest, I'm looking forward it immensely. Plus me and The Wonderful Dutchman get a huge big bedroom...Oh the joy...a bed we can walk around!! Bliss.

So as my personal life is having a move about, Vintage Magpie is following closely behind. Which in true Emma Style...got me thinking....

...I need some advice....from you my blogger friends...I hope you can help me out.

I want to test the waters with an idea I have...

... What would you think if I offered a 'DIY bride silk bouquet' 1 to 2 day course...would anyone be interested?

I feel I would love to help those brides out who maybe want to make their own bouquet have all the vintage goodies, but are unsure on how to do it.

This is not a course designed for people who, like others, are trying to...COPY! But one to help and guide a bride through a totally satisfying process, one which will see her making a unique item for her day.

I really want to share my knowledge and skills with others, and to be able to give a Bride a smile on her face knowing she has made her own, beautiful, and personal bouquet. Something she can be proud of...and that has an even more wonderful story to it.

I really would love to know what you think of this idea. I would love for everyone to comment on this post...you don't have to have a blog...you can do it anonymously, with just an email address...so nothing should be stopping you!!

I really appreciate your words, and input. Thank you so much for your help. xxx

The Map to my Heart

Vintage Magpie has had a change around at The Nest lately...

... well don't they say a change is as good as a rest??

I have been busy making vintage map hearts, with a bit of vintage bling!

I have been having fun making my windows pretty, and putting a few words of wisdom to turn a few heads my way.

Some more gorgeous cushions... Union Jacks and some Stars and Stripes especially for the 4th of July!

Vintage Scottish map bunting. Who can forget the squishy cake? It makes another show in the window.

On a more personal note The Wonderful Dutchman, found the way to my heart....

...Saturday night sushi... It was so scrummy....my map must be of Japan!

Lets Eat Cake

I thought a touch of humour was needed for the Nest... Its summer, and all weddings have a cake.... but maybe not quite like this one!!

Perfect white icing with a ribbon piping, soft, full muslin roses and a Vintage Magpie cake topper pride of place. Squishy but perfectly lovely!

Bunting adds to the festive look... then some small words of wisdom, to bring a smile.
Candy colours are just wonderful in the summer sun.
Do you think Marie Antoinette would approve?

Made in England

Did you know it was St George's Day on the 23rd?? I thought my window needed to show that fact. So all the Union Jacks have come out, and the fabulous vintage flag cushions moved to prime position!

Red, white and Blue is such a great colour combination... cheerful and very patriotic!

Even my big bosomed lady gets a 'God Bless The Queen' 1940's ribbon sash!

I didn't have a sign for my door, so I scanned some funky letters and of course the Scotties had to make an appearance!

A lovely hanging pot to hold my cards for people to take when I'm not there.

This is Vintage Magpie's latest creation... fingers crossed the Bride loves it.

Vintage Magpie is proud that she hand-makes with love in good old England!

Positive & Productive

My walk home takes me past this beauty, with the azure sky....WOW!!

Some days can go in a flash and you wonder what the hell you have been up to...

Well not today.

I have cleaned and tidied my workshop, finding all sorts of things I had forgotten about. Like these lovely ladies... One has been adapted to hold needles, with a tiny cork in the bottom.

The Nest was filled with the dazzling sunlight of a gorgeous day waking up outside... The drawers were filled with rainbows.

I finished off 2 orders, and made a cake topper with fab cream butterflies. I also played around with a hair piece, feathers galore!!

Found the new May/June issue of You & Your Wedding has featured Vintage Magpie!! Isn't the photo so beautiful? A title WOW bouquets... who wouldn't be excited!!

Lots of positive comments on the nest, and a visit from a little lady who assured me my workshop was the sparkly-ist she had ever seen, and declared it beautiful! Well I'm glad she approved...I rather like it too!!
