Birthday Boy

Yesterday was the Wonderful Dutchman's Birthday.... We headed for the sea!!

I think we both miss the sea air of Brighton, and it was glorious to have our toes in the sand, and a strong sea breeze....

We headed to Studland, to Shell Bay to stare out at Old Harry and Durdle Door....this coast line of Dorset is breathtaking.....

It was hot....the Bob was happy he had just had his long hair cut off at the groomers!!

We enjoy this peaceful place so much...it holds happy memories, and we vowed that when we have kids we will take a holiday here every year.....toes in the sand, the smell of sun cream, gulls soaring, laughter heard all over the beach.....it is my happy place, and I think it is quickly becoming the Dutchman's too!

 Hot Dog Day!!

The Birthday boy!!

The seaweed was such pretty colours, the water was COLD!!

My two favorite men.... aren't they handsome??!!

Waiting for the ferry, the sun slowly fading....our skin tingling with sun, our feet sandy, but our hearts are full....

Another stunning day at the beach....another beautiful memory

Even the evening rain didn't dampen our spirits!!
Happy Birthday Darling, I hope you liked your present!!

Christmas is here!

The Scottie dog garland!!

Christmas Cake anyone?
I have had a stinking cold this week...the only things that have cheered me up are...the wonderful Dutchman coming home from work with the most stunning Christmas Tree.... Harry Potter and the half blood prince....Decorating....and walking into Hove library only to be greeted by 20 school children singing Christmas carols.

Ohhh... the smell is divine

Our Star didn't fit on top of the tree, so a berry wreath was a beautiful stand in!

The children brought a tear to my eye, it was so special to browse around picking books to the sweet voices, and the memories which rushed back to me...I surprised myself by remembering the words to those long ago sung carols... I sung with a croak in my voice which has turned to silence...my voice is gone...lost...I hope to find it soon.

Twigs with all the ornaments I couldn't fit on the tree...

I hope you my lovely blogging friends have had a better week, and the Christmas spirit is with you!

....Like this cute little slipper made by my Ma!

The gold and glittering vintage waving Santa made it onto the tree

Fish Kiss!! I adore this garish pink lippy fish, she opens in the middle and holds secrets!
Happy Decorating!!

Bouquets galour....

...Well I know you have been waiting for a while for a few photos of my work....so here you are! No, No, No....I havent been just chilling out with family, friends and the Wonderful Dutch man!! ;)

A twinkling, Sparkling Hand~Tied bouquet, with 3 little heart wands for the little ladies....

Stunning Ruby...a teardrop shape which packs a shimmering punch of Vintage Magpie decadence!

Ivory and Mocha compact shower....sweet, feathery and light.

This one is very special to me.... every item in it has a memory, a meaning for the bride. It has mum's, grandmothers, grandfathers, brothers items in it, one for each of the people who cannot share her day with her...
Hopefully Vintage Magpie has been able to help her take them with her; to walk into the next exciting part of her life....

I'm very proud of all my work.... but this one, make my soul sing with pride.
Good luck and congratulations to all my brides...enjoy your special and beautiful day xxx

Things that make me Smile

I saw this today and thought it was genius ... sometimes something turns your eye and has you laughing while reaching for the phone to take a photo!

I'm not a very religious person, but I loved this. Good for them to come up with an original idea, that gets people taking.

Now I know to most people this won't make you smile, but to me, who seems to spend my life wiring precious bits and bobs, it is a good mornings work! It gave me time to think, and a much needed rest from all the hassles going on at the moment.

These buttons are so gorgeous, big glass sparklers... a rare find. It always amazes me that I can still find buttons that I haven't seen before... people sure did love a different button back in the day... do any of your new items have such glorious buttons?

This was our Sunday... sat with a intoxicating smell of these roses...divine...I smiled a lot...memories of a childhood swimming pool were floating through my mind...the heat.. the fun...and the roses that surrounded it.

They were as big as dinner plates, I wanted to take them all home and fill my flat with the scent and memories, but that would be unfair for the next happy visitor to the heavenly scented rose spot.

I also wanted to say a big THANK YOU to my lovely blogger friends, who's kind words, comments, and emails have made me smile. They really have cheered a little Magpie up!

The first Vintage Magpie Aussie Wedding

The thought of these little beauties flying through this horrid weather and landing a day later in tropical sunshine fills my heart with envy.

These are for my first ever Australian bride. Although not the first piece of Vintage Magpie heaven to see the shores of Oz... remember Elle?? She got a special 21st Birthday slice of VM, a one off special design for a one off special gal.
Hopefully one day she might use her dinky bouquet when she gets married. Or maybe give it to her daughter on her 21st birthday...... who knows.
Don't you love the feeling of being a part of someones history? I love to think that I have added to my brides history. One day they will tell the story of their bouquet to their family, and it will be treasured for the memories.
Can you tell I'm a romantic at heart?
Enjoy Romina xxx

The cow jumped over the Moon

When I was a child I had a book of nursery rhymes.

Hey Diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle,
the cow jumped over the moon,
the little dog laughed to see much fun,
and the dish ran away with the spoon!
'Hey diddle diddle' confused me... as a small girl in her bunk bed reading the book, talking about the cow jumping over the moon? Silly book, why would a cow want to jump over the moon? What has a dish an a spoon have to do with it? The dog I could understand...I would laugh too.

Looking at the moon last night, I completely understood.

I want to jump over the moon. To share the joy it gives me when I look up into the starry sky; see it's beautiful glow lighting up the frosty ground. I feel I'm connected to it... I need to see it...more than the sun, it fills my soul with radiance...lights the way...gives me clarity in my creative path.

I wish for the magic of the full moon to enlighten you today.

All work and some play!

Blimey it has been a busy month for me, and to be honest I'm looking forward to eating far too much, and doing very little over the Christmas break.

Do you remember this little beauty??

It amazes me how a decent photographer can make my work look like it does in the flesh...something I am not very good at!!

Here is the lovely bride and groom... Perfect as it really doesn't take away from the beauty of her dress or the most fantastic scenery... Scotland I miss you... crisp, cold days with a blue sky and a sprinkle of frost that last all day.... I think 2009 will be a year for a visit to Scotland.

I also finished 2 more brides bouquets for them. A lovely simple, classic Sparkling Hand Tied with some family pieces... totally timeless.

Her Grandmothers crystal heart, laying by her hand... a gentle reassuring touch.

These have a trendy touch of black... so chic. The compact Shower bridesmaids bouquets are just too cute.

And lastly, not to forget the play!! Elle and me going back to our childhood, and why not I ask?!

Do you remember the excitement of going on a carousel? Finding your name on a horse, or the one with a cheeky look in his eye... Elle rode Kevin!! hahaha...
I will be sad to see her go back to Oz.
This photo was taken by the Wonderful Dutch Man, who paid for us to become children again, if only for 3 minutes!
