A Childhood Dream Realised

This weekend my childhood dream was realised.
I have been a huge fan of Nigel Kennedy since I was about 9 years old. I wanted to play just like him... unfortunately I gave up the violin at 12...I kick myself now that I didnt keep it up.

My anniversary pressie from the Wonderful Dutchman was tickets to see him play The Four Seasons at the Brighton Dome...we were due to go in September, but it got put back until last weekend due to his recording commitments.

He honestly was sensational.... spine tingling playing.
He reworked the Four Seasons which was a delight...fresh, modern, and such fun. Added vocals which added an eerie quality.
If you would like a little taster go HERE to see him playing in Nuremberg

He also treated us to his new works he has written; The Four Elements. In true Nigel Kennedy style it mixes classical, pop, blues & jazz. Which has me and the Wonderful One smiling.. as he put it 'only he can turn a classical concert into a rock concert!!

It was a truly beautiful experience, mixed with Nigel's fantastic sense of humor, foot banging and hand bumping the audience!! It was rounded up by him playing Danny boy which was so moving...he has a strong place in my heart and my heart will always sing when he plays.

So Thank You Nigel for being as amazing as my dreams &
Thank you Wonderful One for making this Magpie's dreams come true yet again...
I couldn't love you more

Saying Goodbye

The Wonderful Dutchman and I have been experiencing rather a lot of changes since we got married.

The biggest has been moving from our beautiful Home in Brighton. The reason is fantastically exciting, but never the less I was incredibly sad about it.

I have lived there for 4 years. First with my darling sister, until she bought herself an adorable flat near by. Then with that Wonderful Dutchman of mine!

It is where friendships were forged, family gathered, & secrets told. It was where we shared our first kiss....fell in Love, got Engaged, and got Married.

It has seen such love, laughter, fun and happiness, that locking the door the final time was heart breaking.

So many wondrous moments....I shall miss it...but my heart is heavy with happy memories and surly that is what this life of ours is all about.

The next Chapter of my life is starting....being Mrs Bakker is just divine!

Amsterdam...it's been too long

This week The wonderful Dutchman and I are off to Holland!!!!

I am very excited. We are going to see the newest member of the Wonderful Dutch family...Baby Chris. He arrived 12 days ago...perfect timing ;)

I cannot wait...although I feel I might get baby envy in the process. The wonderful Dutchman has strict orders not to let me hold him for too long or I might not want to give him back!

The last time we were there was April and this is what it looked like....

Double Dutch

We have the wonderful dutch man's sister over from Holland for a visit at the moment.

She came bearing gifts.... this is an attempt to help me learn Dutch....

It is my aim to learn, but it is such a tough language. I have been reading Li Li M's blog, and I asked for some advice. She told me I should start with children's books. So it was a lovely surprise to be given these!

So wish me luck!

A week since Valentines Day and my ranunculus are still stunning. What a lucky girl I am!

Have a sunny weekend. xxx

It's back to work I go!

From Amsterdam to Brighton, both so beautiful and such great fun!!

I had the most amazing 2 weeks, from seeing my favorite painting in De Haag, to sitting in Amsterdams famous squares soaking up the atomophere, to lying on the beach, and a baking hot day in London. Chilled out, relaxed and with the best company a girl could ask for.

But enough of the holiday talk.....back to work I must go!! I have lots to do, and last minute brides to madly make bouquets for. Lots of photos will follow to show you what im up to....i hope you enjoy!!

Happy holidays everyone!! xxx

Holiday!!!

Maybe not a holiday but a lovely week off!

I had a friend come over from Amsterdam to visit and we have just had a wonderful few days together. Brighton, London, and sitting on the beach for hours has been a great escape from a rather busy time for me and Vintage Magpie.

It amazes me that you can live somewhere and never really go and 'do' the tourist thing, so we have been to the most beautiful Royal Pavillion which took my breath away. Then after a refreshing walk on the pier, we headed to the sealife centre to see the comical sting rays with their constant happy faces, and the most graceful Sea turtles who I could have watched all day!

London was busy but great fun, we went up on the london eye, with a fantastic view even if the sun wasn't shinning! The Tate Modern being as fun, weird, and inspirational as always. Walking around an Art gallery has to be one of my most favourite things to do.

So a wonderful time was has by all, so now I'm just waiting for my friend to repay the favour and invite me to Amsterdam, somewhere I have always wanted to see. So fingers crossed!!!
Anyway I thought I would let you all know that I'm back to work now. If I haven't got back to you, I will this week, I promise!!
