Amsterdam...it's been too long

This week The wonderful Dutchman and I are off to Holland!!!!

I am very excited. We are going to see the newest member of the Wonderful Dutch family...Baby Chris. He arrived 12 days ago...perfect timing ;)

I cannot wait...although I feel I might get baby envy in the process. The wonderful Dutchman has strict orders not to let me hold him for too long or I might not want to give him back!

The last time we were there was April and this is what it looked like....

Clashing colours - Green and Turquoise Theme

I love clashing colours. It is very rare that I get asked to make a bouquet with bold colours in it. So I thought I would make one just for the fun of it! I love the veiling around the bouquet...it ties the whole theme together.

This Ribbon started it off...isn't it wonderful? It is really simple and totally cute. I put it next to a green dress I have and was blown away with just how good it looked...maybe a photo shoot will be needed!!

The whole collection will be sold together in my Moonbeams Kiss the Magpie shop for £220. This is for the buttonhole, bouquet, and hair piece. The P&P charge is included in that price too....me thinks a bargain for looking H.O.T on your wedding day!!

Email me if you are interested..... xxx

Handmade Save The Date Cards

The good news is that my darling Sister and the Wonderful Dutchman loved the venue!! YAY!!
So it is full steam ahead....

Today I sat and made our 'Save The Date' cards. It was such fun...they are so simple, just a big luggage label hand stamped. Hand written with a white pen, and cute little photo booth pictures for a bit of fun. All finished off with some Divine Twine....in our colours of course!

I long for Britain to bring back the old fashion photo booth...but no-one had heard my cries. We had to go into a normal booth 3 times to get that old fashioned look. But once they were cut up and scanned it worked out really well.

We both adore the look...fun and so very cheap!!

Our Wedding - Update

Well all I can say is that A LOT can happen in a week!!

My lovely Ma and me braved the snow on Wednesday to go and see a wedding venue. It is a converted barn nestled in the south downs. Totally practical, and looked good on the website...I went with an open mind....

We walked around the snow covered garden...gorgeous...THE most stunning Mulberry tree and a herb garden, views of the downs...in my head I was ticking boxes!!

Then we got to see the barn... well I walked in and instantly got a lump in my throat...it is divine!!

Beautiful beams and wood work, fairy lights in the eaves...I could go on!

Their food sounds scrummy, hog roast, luxury buffet....tick....tick...tick....

Price....gulp...gulp...gulp, could be workable!

Can I fall in love with the first venue I see? I think I have, is that bad?

The wonderful Dutchman, my darling Sister and I are off to see it again to make sure.

I phoned up the registry office for some advice and ended up booking the whole thing!! So we have a date and a time....queue the excitement!!

We have a theme of Green and White with a touch of yellow. Bunting shall adorn every available space. Our look is vintage (as if you didn't know that!) country chic...vintage crockery, relaxed look, (no black suits!) Hog roast, gingham table runners, Gin & Tonics.

My gorgeous girls and I will be holding Vintage Magpie creations. I have been promised some of my Dad's Mothers pearls. I never met her, and I am so touched that my aunt is giving them to me. My drawers are full with items I love so much!

So we have a date, a service, a venue, a theme. All I need to sort now are the dresses and suits, a vintage bus, and the guest list!

I am now off to make the 'Save the Date' cards...now we have a date!!

Could this be the one?

This little Magpie is in love with this Jenny Packham dress, it is from her cruise collection.....swoooooooooooon. Do you think she would swap it for a bouquet?
Sigh...it has not got a price....sigh...which means; in wedding terms, it is too much!
Ma where's the sewing machine?

Get your skates on!

Can you imagine skating down a frozen Amsterdam canal in these?

The wonderful Dutchman's parents vintage skates; at their home in Holland... the sleigh is fantastic.

After seeing a tiny chap being pulled along in a make shift milk crate-come-toboggan today I thought of this display in their home!

A Snowy Thank you

This bouquet was made on a budget, but you cannot tell... It has a story of a snowy white wedding day in the beauty of Whistler in Canada...

A few Vintage items where sent over to me, a colour suggestion, and I was allowed to do what I wanted...I think the word trust was used!!
I simply love it. Such soft, but wintry pewter, with the added petrol blue feathers add a magical feeling. And it looks from the photos that is was just that....magic!

Mark's buttonhole was featured in yesterdays post!!

Dancing around a Vintage Magpie Bouquet, now that is just amazing!

Congratulations Rebecca and Mark!!

Sparkling Winter Wonderland

I love the soft sparkle of these Sparkling Crystal Bouquets... Each one I make, each time I finish one, I am always amazed just how different it is from the last one.

This Hand Tied style is still my most asked for design... It is small enough for hand luggage for the ever popular destination wedding, stylish enough for all dress styles especially short, slim-line, or fish tail dress, and has a Sparkle to die for. The vintage crystal give a deeper depth of sparkle than the new crystal.

This is a bouquet I made for one of my winter brides...I wonder if it will snow for her? Can you imagine the photos! Glorious

Even the men got their chance to shine. I adore these simple buttonholes. They bring the whole theme to together.

Here are a few more of Vintage Magpie's Corsages and Buttonholes for you to look at!
